Brother P Touch PT 18R - A junk product to stay away from  
I bought this product 6 months ago anticipating a need to use this shortly. I verified that the product works by making about 8 or 10 labels both using the PC interface and using directly. I left it sitting on the charger as suggested when not in use. A week ago I wanted to make some labels - I cannot even turn the product on. I verified that battery is fine and that light comes on when connected to charger. However the unit will not work. The worst part is that I called the company and after three escalations they tell me the same thing - they cannot replace and had no interest to find out why the product might have gone so bad for lack of use. They are right that the warranty for exchange is over. I told them that I was going to write a review after usage and they could not care less. They call from a number that is out of area and like a broken record say the same thing. Amazon may be willing to give partial refund but I also bought lot of tapes for this unit. Incredible Labeler for the money  
I bought this labeler a couple months ago after researching them for a while. Im not easily impressed but this unit is incredible! Super easy to use dozens of tape widths and colors (no they are not cheap but they are excellent quality and can change from one to the other and back again in seconds). I used them to organize my shop using different colors for stainless steel screws brass steel etc. It works fine as a stand-alone unit but you are limited on fonts. However if you connect it to a PC you can choose from numerous fonts and you can layout your text on a "virtual tape" shown on the screen. When you have what you want it prints it exactly as shown. By laying it out on the screen you have the option of printing a dozen labels in one printing all attached together and cut them manually apart. This saves a lot of "leader tape" vs printing one at a time. Tape is easy to peel (split back) and adheres great. Unit can be charged with the cradle or plugged into the cord. LOVE THIS LABELER!  
I have tried several other labelers because I was hesitant about spending the money on this gem of a product. Well that was all a waste of time because this time saver is worth every penny. As a professional office organizer I use my labeler a lot and need it to be reliable and efficient. This rechargeable dynamo is easy to use and I can cart it to my clients offices and it never fails me. Dont go cheap its too costly! : 2010-09-16 00:39:11

Extremely happy with the PT-18r  
Im replacing my battery-gobbling P-Touch PT-80 with this rechargeable labeler.
Very pleased with my purchase. Very easy to set up and I love that it will hold a charge for a very long time and doesnt HAVE to reside in the charging base.
I use my unit primarily in the kitchen and home office and mine had to be a compact size suitable to store in a kitchen drawer placing it in the charger only when necessary. This is a very good size although not as small as the previous PT-80 but I was willing to pay the extra money and add the additional bulk to get away from the unit that sucked up batteries after nearly every label.
It should be noted however that the rechargeable model is significantly heavier than the old unit weighing in at nearly 1-1/2 pounds. : 2010-09-16 00:39:11
